Unless Carey has said explicitly that she is Episcopalian, the claim that she is Episcopalian would be extremely misleading. Carey was married to Nick Cannon and the marriage took place in an Episcopal church, yes. However, Carey has performed in what appear to be many different types of churches, and she has described healing and help coming to her at various times due to her faith and her prayer or the prayers of others, including a woman relative whom she claims was considered a prophetess. Given her description of things, this sounds quite a bit Pentecostal and not at all Episcopalian. Lots of people have been sprinkled or baptized Catholic and are not Catholic now. Lots of people have been sprinkled poured or baptized Epi or married Epi and are not Epi now. Nick Cannon claims that Mariah was deep and passionate about Bible reading, which could be a lot of things, but unless I am mistaken, not the usual Episcopalian, who, by the surveys of religious belief, include a number of atheists and agnostics and it seems, in fact, that of the various forms of Christian churches or denominations, are the most atheistic, by profession, when asked, for purposes of a survey! Mariah credits some bishop and his church for helping her recover from a breakdown which took place in 2001 or so. Was that bishop Epi or Church of God in Christ or some African Methodist Episcopal or something else? I do not know; it seems difficult to find out. Mariah has performed for or with Osteen, and for or with many others of nearly every variety of Christian faith, it appears and claims to love gospel singing, singing that I think may be hard to find in most Epi churches! Mariah has written a book about her life and including how her faith has helped her. I have not read it, but perhaps we should check it out, if we are going to say she is Epi as opposed to Pente or other!
