Now called the "Father of the Psychedelic Guitar." Real name: same. Religious beliefs: raised Catholic; studied to be a monk; studied Zen Buddhism and various.

James died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009 of a heart attack. He was one of the truly talented eccentric guitarists who didn't play according to normal methods. He used thumb and finger picks and played outside the normal rock boundaries, drawing on his experience with a progressive bluegrass band.
Sadly, he parted ways with the Big Brother reunion after some disagreements with the band. He was 69.
